Massive project in Applied Illustration - DONE.

Here are some of the artwork I produced for it! I didn’t get to post all of them (like the 9 worlds and revamped version of my map project) because of Tumblr limits, but you can see them all in their entirety and context on this website here

Some mini-extras:

Derp-Sleipner.

Mini-animations of Loke’s children, Hel, Fenris and Jormungand. It’s hard to draw a sea serpent in less than 100x100 but I really liked how Hel turned out.

Ah. So relieved to be done with it all. Handed in all the files + a bookmark on a memory stick. I just hope the tutors have internet access while assessing the stuff.

My finest work. Look at that realism.
/yes, I’m still working on that project.

It’s past 5AM, here’s some work in progress for my Applied Illustration project!
These are the 9 homeworlds of Norse mythology, somewhat complete in various degrees. I like to have them all in front of me in one canvas, and just work on whichever I feel like working with. It makes it easier to keep them in the same style (somewhat) as I keep discovering and experimenting with new effects and ways of working I tend to be quite non-consistent.
As you can see, I begin with a sketch, block some colours, which I then build up and refine, just like a traditional painting. I’ve started to learn how to use various brushes and blending-modes. I need to practice doing landscapes and architecture.
These are not to be animated fyi. Still have loads more to do.

For my final project in Applied Illustration! I’m going to do a small informational website about Norse mythology aimed at people of all ages, with animated illustrations! This is the first of around 20 illustrations I’ve planned.
